I'd like to be...

First of all; apologies. We never gave you an update about the cycling. We actually got rained off that weekend. We took Naomi out the following weekend and all had a great time. I enjoyed taking it easy, because I had a good excuse (baby on back). Naomi loved the wind in her hair and the views to be had. Jennie enjoyed keeping up with me.

Unfortunately, the photos were lousy. No, you can't see them anyway. Look, I said no photos, right? Well, no photos of cycling anyway. Instead, you all get to see a long-promised and finally delivered photo of my gorgeous daughter swimming.

We've just got back from a great holiday in Spain, where this photo was taken. We visited Andalucia which been suffering from a drought for nearly two years. Didn't it just choose the week we were there to finally break? Man, did it rain!

Still, we all really enjoyed ourselves, and I'm sure you'll get to see more photos shortly.

Bicycle made for two

In case you hadn't realised, I enjoy riding bicycles. I love riding my road bike fast or far. I love riding my mountain bike up or down (but usually slowly). In fact, I pretty much like to ride any old bike anywhere. In Bolivia, I used to borrow a bike that weighed nearly as much as I do, but it was a bike, so I liked riding it. Jennie also has two bikes, which she enjoys riding, even if not quite so rabidly as me.

With this parentage, and with previous posts in mind, I suppose it wasn't long before this happened:

I grew up riding in a seat like that. My earliest memories of bicycling include the feeling of wickerwork gradually embedding itself in my knees (I suspect I was probably "a little to big for it" at that time). I remember my mum and dad making the decision that we were all probably "a little to big for it," and besides it had seen better days, and shouldn't we probably move on to something different now?

In hindsight, that's a little weird, because you won't see anything much more "different" than this seat.

Anyway, it took far longer than it should have to fit the beast this evening (although it was a nice excuse for a stronger rack than I used to have). Naomi and me will be testing it tomorrow.

Expect an update.
