My Patio's on Fire

I'll start off the point; we've aimed to name our posts after song titles of lyrics. Sometimes we've managed, sometimes we haven't. This one had me completely stumped until I typed "patio" into the search bar in itunes. A prize (possibly) to the first person who can tell me the title and artist of the song I've quoted for this title.

I didn't even know I had a song with the word patio in it anywhere.

Back on topic. I have spent every free daylight hour that I've had since the start of November laying a patio in our back garden. Every weekend for the last three weeks, I've started work with a genuine belief that we'll get it finished "this time."

With despair, I realised that we still wouldn't have it finished last Monday, and that it might not be over by Christmas. Not so; it's finally done! This is me moments after pointing the final edge this morning, before I went to work. You have no idea how much happier I am about the New Year now that I know I'm not going to be working.

Jennie helped with it, and is equally delighted. Thanks also to everyone else who helped, especially dad.

Naomi helped too, and this is her witnessing the historic moment. You can see the excitement in her face, can't you?

Sorry for the blue-ish colour of the photos. Apparently everything is that colour when you go out before 9 o'clock. I wouldn't know.

Incidentally, the only other song that itunes gave me was "welcome to the occuPATIOn" by REM.

Patio Song by Gorky's Zygotic Mynci

Sounding like a bizarrely sweet and whimsical cross between progressive rock, psychedelia, and pure pop, Gorky's Zygotic Mynci were one of the most original and distinctive bands to emerge from the vital post-Brit-pop Welsh scene of the mid-'90s.

This is how I get to beat people at Trivial Pursuits........

Please let there be a prize - I love prizes.

Congratulations, by the way! The patio looks - like a patio! It looks good. Well done after all that work - to everyone who helped as well (not us - distance has some advantages!). It's some achievement and we're looking forward to seeing and using it next time we're in Edinburgh.
